Warm Hugs
This committee is the formerly Charity Quilts Committee. Kathy Beck, Andrea Brown, and Janet McCann reach out to various local agencies to assess their quilt and pillowcase needs. We have a core group of agencies that we have donated quilts to.
We are also asking members to tell us what they can do for Warm Hugs. Make blocks, assemble tops, quilt projects, and bind quilts. We can use your help in all stages of the quilting project. It takes the entire guild to serve the community and we appreciate your help. We are trying to be more accountable so we’re keeping track of the number of quilts being donated and also what groups that are accepting the quilts. We are ready to accept the quilts you've been holding onto the past year! Please email or call/text one of us to arrange drop off. If you know of a need in the community don't hesitate to contact us. |
Veterans' Quilts
The Guild’s Veterans' Quilts project, headed up by Linda Pujo and Kris Van Eyck, focuses primarily on making and donating quilts to veterans or active members of the military. Occasionally, quilts are donated to veterans’ groups for fundraising in order to indirectly help veterans and their families. Also, a new outreach in 2022 is supplying lap quilts to patients undergoing treatments at the VA Clinics.
We also participate in the Quilts of Valor Foundation and present comforting quilts of valor to men and women throughout the area who have served and have been touched by war. Nominations for a Quilt of Valor can be directed to either Kris or Linda. Guild members are encouraged to participate in piecing blocks, assembling quilt tops, quilting, and binding. We are always looking for longarm quilt volunteers. |
